Yokohama unveiled a new-material inner liner, the Airtex advanced liner, engineered as a next-generation technology to continue improving the fuel-saving performance of its ECO tires.

The Airtex advanced liner is only one-fifth as thick as conventional inner liners, which reduces tire weight and increases fuel efficiency. The Airtex liner is also highly impermeable and flexible and can substantially reduce the volume of air naturally leaking from a tire. The inner liner uses a special resin to adhere to the inside of the tire to limit air reduction.

The liner is currently in production and is being used in all Yokohama ECO tires.
