Pirelli Unveils Green Tire
Tuesday at the SEMA show Pirelli unveiled its new green tire, the Scoprion Verde All Season.
The new Scorpion Verde All Season features green technology without compromising performance. The Scorpion Verde has 20% lower rolling resistance and an 8% weight deduction, while also delivering excellent wet braking, dry and wet handling and snow traction.
According to Pirelli, the new tire is designed with an optimized rubber-to-void ratio and features a special silica tread compound. It also offers uniform contact pressure. All of this improves wear uniformity, which equals higher mileage and a stable footprint.
Pirelli also showcased its new “ecoimpact” icons. The “ecoimpact” icons will be branded on the sidewall of every tire in Pirelli’s upcoming green line, including the Scorpion Verde All Season. The icons will symbolize energy efficiency, high mileage, cleaner emissions and low noise. By 2011, Pirelli plans to increase green tire production to 40% of its tire lineup.
The Scorpion Verde All Season features a UTQG rating of 600 AA and will be available for SUVs, crossovers and light trucks in 19 sizes from 16 inch to 20 inch rims and in T, H and V speed ratings.

It’s about time someone introduced a true green tire for SUV’s and light trucks. I saw the Verde All Season at the SEMA show this week and it is the real deal. Great stuff. Good job Pirelli!
