Potenza RE040

The Potenza RE040 provides good traction with responsive dry and wet road handling.

The Potenza RE040 was developed to provide good traction along with responsive and predictable dry and wet road handling. Like all summer tires, the Potenza RE040 tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. On the outside, the Potenza RE040 features a high grip tread compound molded into a subtly directional tread design. A continuous center rib and large rectangular tread blocks provide responsive handling, high-speed stability and traction on dry roads, while circumferential and lateral tread grooves are aimed to pump water out from under the tire's footprint to minimize hydroplaning and aid wet traction. Internally, the Potenza RE040 features twin steel belts reinforced by spiral wrapped nylon to stabilize the tread area and enhance handling, high-speed capability and ride quality while minimizing weight. The fabric cord body and hard rubber sidewall filler helps blend uniform ride quality with steering response and lateral stability.

Original Equipment (OE) tire on select vehicles. See Sizes and Specifications for Original Equipment fitments.

The Platinum Pact Limited Warranty covers all Bridgestone passenger and light truck tires, except winter tires and temporary spare tires, as follows:

The free tire replacement period: If within 3 years from date of purchase (Proof of Purchase Date Required) or 4 years from the date of manufacture, whichever is to the owner's advantage, and before wearing down to 2/32nds of an inch of remaining original usable tread, a tire covered by this warranty becomes unusable for any reason within the manufacturer's control, such tire will be replaced free of charge (including mounting and balancing).

During the free tire replacement period, you may be charged applicable taxes, the cost of valve stems and disposal fees.

After the free replacement period: If within 5 years from date of purchase (Proof of Purchase Date Required) or 6 years from the date of manufacture, whichever is to the owner's advantage, and before wearing down to 2/32nds of an inch of remaining original usaable tread, a tire covered by this warranty becomes unusable for any reason within the manufacturer's control, such tire will be replaced charging the user a pro-rated amount.

To determine the replacement price, the percent of used treadwear is multiplied by THE DEALER'S then current selling price for the replacement tire(s). The appropriate taxes, mounting, balancing, disposal fees and other service charges may be added to the adjustment replacement price.

Winter Tire and Temporary Spare Tire coverage is as follows: If within 5 years from date of purchase (Proof of Purchase Date Required) or 6 years from the date of manufacture, whichever is to the owner's advantage, and before wearing down to 2/32nds of an inch of remaining original usable tread, a tire covered by this warranty becomes unusable for any reason within the manufacturer's control, such tire will be replaced charging the user a pro-rated amount.

There is no free replacement period for Winter tires and Temporary Spare tires.

To determine the replacement price, the percent of used treadwear is multiplied by THE DEALER'S then current selling price for the replacement tire(s). The appropriate taxes, mounting, balancing, disposal fees and other service charges may be added to the adjustment replacement price.

A tires speed rating denotes the maximum permitted speed that the tire can sustain for 10 minutes without being in danger. Speed ratings are determined through lab tests that simulate road performance.
The Uniform Tire Quality Grading System (UTQGS) allows consumers to compare tire treadwear, traction performance, and temperature resistance. The U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Safety Administration mandates tire manufacturers to grade their tires in these three areas and place the information on the sidewall of the tire.
Most tires are covered by a limited warranty that certifies the workmanship and the overall quality of the tire. Limited warranties typically last 4 to 6 years from the purchase date, or until the tires original tread is worn to 2/32nds of inch.
Ply rating identifies the load carrying capabilities of a tire in terms of plies. The ply rating originally referred to the number of cotton layers used to strengthen a tires casing.
Popular types of tires are All Season, Touring, Performance, Ultra High Performance, Original Equipment, Winter, All Terrain, Mud, and Commercial. Most sacrifice some aspect of their performance in order to strengthen another to match the expectations and driving styles of different people and vehicles.
A tire’s load index indicates the amount of a weight each tire can support. The higher a tires load index number, the greater the load-carrying capabilities.
